About OBCB
The Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association creates lists about every five years of books that are recommended to high school students who are headed to college; they call the list, Outstanding Books for the College Bound. The lists attempt to provide books that represent a variety of content areas and expand the horizons of students. The most recent lists were released in 2009.
YALSA recommends that students "use it to round out your reading as you prepare for college entrance exams and courses, to strengthen your knowledge in a variety of subject areas and enhance appreciation for different cultures and times."
Below are links to the YALSA site and their lists with summaries of each of the recommended titles. On the tabs above, you can find information on individual titles that the library has in our collection, their call numbers and links to their summaries in the library catalog.
